Ultrasonic Welding

RFID Casing, Unassembled

Ultrasonic Welding is a process that involves clamping two or more components together and vibrating them at a high frequency to generate heat and create a weld at the point of contact. It's used to permanently fix two components together with a seal comparable to being molded as one piece.

First developed in the 1960s, ultrasonic welding didn't see widespread use until the automotive industry began taking advantage in the 1980s. Since then, it's become a favorite method of permanently joining thermoplastics and is now used widely throughout many industries. Now, in addition to being used to join multiple plastic parts, we use ultrasonic welding to stake, insert, stud-weld, and spot weld.
